Invisalign vs. Traditional Braces: Which Is Better for Your Smile?

May 11, 2024 0 Comments

In the world of orthodontics, two options stand out when considering the best method for teeth straightening:

complex dental misalignments

and traditional braces. Both have their merits and drawbacks, shaping smiles across the globe. But when it comes down to choosing between Invisalign vs

Invisalign

, which is the superior option? This post aims to help dental care seekers, orthodontic patients, and health and beauty enthusiasts make an informed decision by providing a comprehensive comparison.

Appearance: The Clear Difference

One of the most significant considerations for many is how their orthodontic choice will affect their appearance. Traditional braces, with their metal brackets and wires, are quite noticeable. In contrast, Invisalign offers a virtually invisible solution, utilizing clear plastic aligners that snugly fit over your teeth. For those concerned about their orthodontic treatment being conspicuous, Invisalign presents a clear advantage.

Comfort and Convenience: Feeling Good, Living Better

When it comes to comfort, Invisalign aligners are generally less intrusive. The smooth plastic reduces the risk of mouth sores and doesn’t irritate the cheeks or gums as

traditional braces

can. Additionally, because Invisalign aligners are removable, eating, brushing, and flossing are much more straightforward. Traditional braces, on the other hand, require meticulous cleaning around brackets and wires, and they come with dietary restrictions to avoid damaging them.

Treatment Duration: A Matter of Time

The length of treatment varies widely depending on the individual’s needs. Traditional braces are often quicker at correcting severe misalignments, with treatment times ranging from 18 to 24 months. Invisalign, while effective for moderate corrections, typically requires 12 to 18 months to achieve desired results. It’s important to note, however, that Invisalign’s success heavily relies on the patient’s commitment to wearing the aligners for the recommended 22 hours per day.

Pros and Cons of Each Option

Invisalign:

  • Pros:
  • Nearly invisible
  • Removable for eating and cleaning
  • Generally more comfortable
  • Cons:
  • Often more expensive
  • Requires discipline to keep aligners in for enough hours
  • Not suitable for the most severe cases

Traditional Braces:

  • Pros:
  • More effective for complex issues
  • Cost can be lower than Invisalign
  • No need for discipline regarding wear time
  • Cons:
  • Noticeable appearance
  • Can be uncomfortable
  • Dietary restrictions

Conclusion

Deciding between Invisalign and traditional braces ultimately depends on your specific orthodontic needs, lifestyle, and priorities. Invisalign offers an aesthetically pleasing and convenient solution for those with mild to moderate alignment issues. Meanwhile, traditional braces provide a cost-effective option for tackling more severe or traditional braces.

Regardless of which path you choose, both Invisalign and traditional braces are effective tools in achieving a healthier, more beautiful smile. We recommend consulting with an Invisalign  who can assess your unique situation and guide you toward the option that best meets your needs.

Remember, investing in your smile is a step towards boosting your confidence and promoting overall metal braces . Whichever option you decide on, you’re on your way to showing off your best smile.

Skip Hire South Australia – Get Dispose of of Your Rubbish Rapidly and Effectively

May 3, 2024 0 Comments

Whether you’re spring cleaning or carrying out a DIY renovation, your work will inevitably create waste. With skip bin hire services, disposing of your waste quickly and efficiently is simple.

Mini Skip Bins makes ordering a skip bin simple, and we can offer you with different sizes depending on what type of rubbish you need to discard.

Corporate and Industrial

A corporate dumpster is an excellent way for business owners to dispose of waste and sanitize their work areas. This will help ensure that staff are safe and can do their jobs well without concerning about exposure to chemicals or other dangerous elements. A business waste disposal can be used for multiple uses, from cleaning after production to getting rid of office rubbish.

Various sizes are available for corporate and industrial dumpster rental in South Australia, so companies can find the one that works best for them. Smaller bins can be used for minor home cleanups and garden makeovers, while larger ones can manage more considerable construction or industrial waste disposal projects. These larger bins can also be used for keeping recyclable items.

Companies that consistently create waste can gain advantages from hiring corporate dumpsters. These bins are crafted to hold large amounts of waste and can be emptied regularly by the company that hired them. This will allow them to avoid dealing with waste disposal every day and save money in the long term.

Skip bins can be delivered to both home and business locations around SA. The council will require a license to place the dumpster for commercial sites. This can take a couple of days, so requesting for the license at least a minimum of four working days before the skip hire date is crucial.

Using a waste container is the most straightforward and most handy way to remove residential, business, or industrial waste from your property. Skip bins are also an outstanding option for a thorough spring cleaning, relocating, or renovating your home. They can also be used for landscaping, green waste, and general rubbish removal.

Residential

Whether you are undergoing a home renovation or having a spring clean, there will be household rubbish that needs to be thrown away. Rather than doing a trip to the dump in your car and loading and unloading several trash trailers, renting a waste container makes the process significantly more convenient. Skips come in a range of sizes, and the company you book from can recommend you on the size best for your job.

Mini skips are great for small projects like garden clippings and DIY jobs. They’re also appropriate for residential moving homes and decluttering. For larger clearouts and renovations, you can select a mixed trash container, which includes materials that can’t be compressed such as bricks, timber, and sand. These skips are also an outstanding option for construction areas, as they can be placed at a definite collection point for ease of garbage pickup.

A mixed trash container is suitable for residential waste, including white goods, wood and metal objects, furniture, clothes, paper & and cardboard, toy boxes, and green waste. You can even throw away e-waste such as PCs, televisions, and rimless tires (at an extra cost).

Skips are generally hired for a fortnight, but some companies offer more extended hire periods. Ask your dumpster rental service when you book, and they will happily arrange this. Remember that extending the hire period would not cost the dumpster rental service anything, but extending the hire will require you to pay for any permit renewals or parking suspensions. These charges are usually a percentage of hiring the skip, so it’s an excellent investment. If you need help packing your skip, a removal service with a man and van or wait-and-load skips are provided for an added cost.

Construction

Skip hire is a must-have for construction sites. Builders, carpenters, masons, and home renovators generate a lot of waste that requires proper disposal. Using a waste container allows them to clean up the work area and supports a protected environment to work in. These bins are a excellent option to save time and money as they remove the need for repeated trips to the landfill.

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

April 18, 2024 0 Comments

Besides the discomfort and inconvenience of dental procedures, the next thing people think of is, “How much does it cost?” For dental implants, that question can cause hesitation in having the procedure, even when implant dentures are an absolute medical necessity.

To help ease your concerns or to satisfy your curiosity if considering dental implants, read below and learn how much dental implants cost, and why.

The Average Cost of Dental Implants

The cost of dental implants can vary, depending on how many teeth are being implanted, among other factors. For a single-tooth dental implant, the cost is around $5, 000, but that is only for the implant and placement surgery; other contributing aspects can raise the cost significantly.

For full-mouth dental implants, the cost can be between $43, 000 and $56, 000, for the implants and surgery without any other factors included. Dental insurance providers may cover a portion of the cost, helping with out-of-pocket expenses, but some insurance companies may consider it a cosmetic treatment and forgo coverage.

If considering or need dental implants, the first thing to do is look over your insurance plan or call your insurance provider to discuss implant treatment.

Factors That Impact Dental Implants Cost

As mentioned above, the base costs for dental implants don’t include other factors that increase the price tag. While some may appear as a necessity, others are personal choices that depend on your lifestyle and insurance coverage:

Types of Dental Implants

The two typical and most common types of dental implants are endosteal and subperiosteal, the difference being how they’re attached to the jawbone. Endosteal implants are shaped like a small screw and are inserted into the jawbone, holding one or more replacement teeth. These are typically preferred when a patient has dentures or bridges already.

The other is the subperiosteal implant, which is placed on or above the jawbone with a metal post placed under the gum and holding the implant in place through it.

Implant Location

Where the dental implants are needed can affect the cost since the location affects how complex the procedure is. For example, implants in the front of the mouth are more visible, requiring more aesthetic considerations than those in the back.

Implant Material

There are two main options for dental implants to consider:

  • Titanium Dental Implants: These implants have a low failure rate due to their biocompatibility, meaning the body won’t recognize the material as a foreign invader. Titanium is also highly resistant to corrosion and has low thermal conductivity, meaning hot or cold foods won’t irritate the implant or area around it.
  • Zirconia Dental Implants: Like titanium, zirconia is biocompatible and metal-free for patients who have metal allergies or an autoimmune disorder. While it isn’t as strong as titanium, they are less susceptible to plaque buildup and blend well with natural tooth color.

Pre-Implant Treatments

Sometimes, additional procedures are necessary before or during the implant placement process to ensure a successful outcome. These procedures, such as bone grafting or gum disease treatment, can add to the overall cost of treatment.

Implant Insurance Coverage

Dental insurance coverage varies widely, and not all plans cover dental implants; as mentioned earlier, some even consider it purely cosmetic and won’t cover it. Those that do may only cover a portion of the cost, leaving the patient responsible for the rest of the costs. Always check with your insurance provider before scheduling dental implant treatment.

Benefits of Dental Implants: Is It Worth the Price?

This largely depends on what you and your dentist think about the total cost vs. dental benefits. When wondering, how much do dental implants cost, compare them to the inconveniences of traditional dentures or the price to your overall oral health not to have them. Some dentists will work with their patients with financing or paying overtime to help ease the burden, but it’s important to have that conversation openly with your dentist.

We at Bellevue aim to help all our patients improve their smiles and work with them to ensure that the price doesn’t bar them from the smile they deserve. What Does Sedation Dentistry Feel Like?

April 16, 2024 0 Comments

If sedation dental care is recommended, you might wonder what does sedation dentistry feel like?

Sedation dentistry feels relaxing. With sedation, you’ll likely nap through your dental visit.  After care, you are alert enough to walk out of our office with your companion. Then, you go home and rest comfortably. You can plan to be back to your normal routine the next day.

Sedation dentistry is usually recommended for two reasons. First, levels of dental fear or anxiety are high for some people. Sedation dentistry can help you rest through treatment and get the care you need. Second, some treatments can be lengthy. For longer treatment visits, Dr. Frahm may recommend sedation care. It’s important to understand being sedated in our office is not like going under anesthesia for hospital surgery.

You might ask, what does dental sedation feel like?

The short answer is that it depends on the type of sedation dentistry you’re having. Read below and learn how the different forms of sedation make you feel.

Dental Sedation Explained

Sedation dentistry is an effective way to minimize any anxiety or discomfort you may feel during dental treatment. Sedation dentistry comes in several forms.

Your primary options for sedation dental care are likely:

  • Mild: Nitrous oxide helps you relax through treatment. Nitrous oxide is commonly known as laughing gas.  It is the mildest sedative we provide.
  • Medium: Medication, in pill form, can be prescribed by Dr. Frahm before your treatment visit.  With sedation medication, you will need a companion to drive and accompany you to and from your dental visit.
  • Strong: Intravenous sedatives are sometimes recommended to you if you struggle with significant anxiety, PTSD or have a medical condition that makes IV sedation a good choice.

During sedation dental care, you will likely drift into a twilight state. You won’t remember much about your dental visit. In fact, many people say they have short term amnesia after sedation dental care. Usually, it’s considered a plus.

When thinking about your sedation experience, it can be helpful to know the levels of sedation relaxation. Depending in your needs for care, and response to sedation medication, you can expect to enter one or more of these states of rest:

  • Minimal sedation: Awake but relaxed. You can still respond to Dr. Frahm.
  • Moderate sedation: Slurring of words, not much is remembered.
  • Deep sedation: On the edge of consciousness to being unconscious.

During your sedation care visit, our team of trained health care professionals monitors your blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen levels. Throughout your visit, we make sure you are safe and resting comfortably.

Types of Dental Sedation and How They Feel

When you ask, what does dental sedation feel like? The answer is it depends. The type of sedation you receive, duration of your visit, and preferences for care drive your experience.

Laughing Gas

Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas is the least invasive, and most common, type. Most of us experience no side effects and can use it safely. Laughing gas is delivered via a mask that covers your nose. It is inhaled. The gas can be flavored. Many dentists give patients a choice of the type of scent they prefer. With laughing gas, you may become silly, giggly and have a sense of euphoria. The effects wear off almost immediately. After care, it helps to rest and recover for a few minutes before you leave our dental office. Unless otherwise directed, you should be able to drive yourself to and from your dental visit.

Oral Sedation

Also known as oral conscious sedation, is a sedative given in pill form. Usually, Dr. Frahm prescribes two doses. You take the first dose before your visit. Dr. Frahm may recommend a second dose once you arrive at our office for care. Oral conscious sedation is anti-anxiety medication that helps you deeply relax. You will probably feel drowsy when you take oral sedation medication but remain awake and conscious.

Side effects of oral sedation include grogginess, and a dream state feeling. It can take a several hours for oral conscious sedation to wear off. Due to the time it takes to recover from sedation, you need someone to drive you to and from care. It is best if a companion can be present while you rest.  Dr. Frahm calls a few hours after your sedation dentistry visit to check on you.

IV Sedation

For people with severe dental anxiety, IV sedation is often recommended. It is also administered to patients who are undergoing dental surgeries. The medication is delivered through an intravenous needle in the arm and the dose is monitored throughout the procedure.

Slurred speech and memory loss are very common for IV sedation and will likely result in forgetting the entire procedure. The sedation is at a much deeper level than the other methods and keeps most patients on the edge of consciousness.

All IV sedation patients must have a companion to drive them to and from care, and stay with them after care for about 24 hours.

Safe Dentistry for You

The type of sedation you choose depends on what ensures a safe and comfortable dental visit, and your overall health. As you can see, there are different ways you can feel depending on your needs. A sedative will make you feel drowsy but relaxed, have you feel like you’re in a dream, or forget the whole procedure entirely.

Dr. Frahm is a gentle dentist, who created an office space design for calm and comfort. To put you at ease, we offer both oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide sedation dentistry. Dr. Frahm always discusses your options with you before treatment begins. For more information click the link below.

Common Orthodontic Issues: Causes, Symptoms, and Treatments | ADVANCED ORTHODONTICS

April 10, 2024 0 Comments

When it comes to our orthodontic treatment , we often associate orthodontic issues with the quest for a perfect smile. However, the implications of misaligned teeth go beyond cosmetic concerns, impacting our oral health and overall well-being. This comprehensive exploration will shed light on the various orthodontic problems many face, why they matter, and how they are treated, emphasizing that straight teeth are not just a matter of aesthetic preference.

What Are Orthodontic Issues and Why Do They Matter?

Crossbites, commonly known as malocclusions, refer to misalignments of the teeth and jaws, which can cause discomfort, difficulty with chewing or speaking, and in some cases, contribute to more severe health issues. The importance of treating orthodontic problems cannot be overstated. Beyond creating a symmetrical and aesthetic smile, proper alignment of teeth is critical for oral health, including chewing function, jaw joint health, and maintaining dental hygiene. Additionally, Orthodontic issues can play a significant role in boosting individuals’ self-confidence, a factor that should never be undermined.

When Your Smile Isn’t Aligned: Types of Orthodontic Issues

There are several types of orthodontic problems, each with its set of causes, symptoms, and treatment approaches. Understanding the intricacies of these issues can provide insight into the methods necessary to address them effectively.

Overbite (Upper Front Teeth Protrusion)

An overbite occurs when the upper front teeth overlap the lower front teeth excessively. This misalignment can lead to chewing difficulties and can also wear down the lower teeth, potentially leading to jaw pain and joint problems. Overbites are often hereditary, but can also be caused by bad oral habits like thumb-sucking or tongue thrusting.

Underbite (Lower Front Teeth Protrusion)

Conversely, an underbite is characterized by lower front teeth that are positioned further outward than the upper front teeth. This can lead to similar problems with chewing and the development of facial imbalances, affecting the overall symmetry of the face.

Crossbite

A crossbite occurs when one or more teeth are angled abnormally in a lateral direction, either towards the cheek or the tongue. dental health can lead to tooth stratification, or the misalignment of the dental arches, and can result in uneven growth of the jaws if left untreated.

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces are the most common type of orthodontic treatment, consisting of metal brackets attached to each tooth and an archwire that puts pressure on the teeth to help guide them into place. Over time, this pressure will shift the teeth, gap spaces, and correct alignment issues.

Invisalign and Clear Aligners

Invisalign and clear aligners are a more discreet alternative to traditional braces. These clear, custom-made aligner trays fit over your teeth and are replaced every two weeks to gradually shift your teeth. Invisalign treatment involves a series of aligners; each set is slightly adjusted to encourage a new position of the teeth.

In conclusion, the more we understand the nature of orthodontic issues, their causes, and the available treatment options, the better equipped we are to make informed decisions about our dental health.
